Th350 Detent Cable Leak

I have a mildly built th350 that seems to leak from the detent cable fitting when it sits overnight.

Detent boot seal th350 transmission for passing gear kickdown cable. Seems to me that the detent cable does. The plastic cable mounts needs to be removed. Please check to be sure your kickdown cable uses a boot type seal not an oring.

Does it seem pssible that it could be losing that much fluid from this location when the car isn t even running. In japan especially in the city there are so many traffic lights and stop signs that the kickdown can actually be completely removed. I currently have a leak coming from the cable dripping on front. On both of my th350 s i have a rubber sleeve type seal on the cable.

I am about to replace the cable with a lokar braided cable. A new kickdown cable detent boot for the th350 and th350c. It seems to leak a bunch of transmission fluid after setting for a period of time. And it seems to almost completely drain the fluid so much that the car will barely move.

Th350 has in fact a detent cable not a throttle valve cable. This boot is typically on th350s 1978 up but may also be found on earlier models. Ct2827 a new kickdown cable detent boot for the th350 turbo 350 and th350c. The kickdown cable port on the th350 transmission is a common issue.

Joined mar 21 2000 4 213 posts 13 nov 5 2003. That makes it really easy to cap. I wouldnt think that the tightly adjusted kickdown would caused it to leak. Some have just a square cut type o ring sometmes they dont fit right.

It had no sign of front or rear seal leakage so i replaced the filter and pan gasket and then test drove it for several days. I would say it is about 3 8 tall slides over the plastic part that sticks in the trans.
